Not long after Funabashi achieved city status, Japan plunged into World War II.The postwar reconstruction in the late 1940s and early 1950s was followed by a decade of industrialization and infrastructure development, including railway networks and large housing complexes. These laid the necessary foundation for Funabashi to prosper as a modern city.
