A major temple in the Chisan branch of Shingon Buddhism.With a history of 1080 years, five structures including a gate and halls in the premises are designated as National Important Cultural Properties.
The first three days every year attract nearly 3 million people from Chiba and other surrounding prefectures for Hatsu-Mode (new-year prayer for revitalization before the Gods or Buddha).
The most popular souvenir of Shinshoji is a protective amulet called "Kachi-Onmamori.""Kachi" means winning or overcoming the self, so the souvenir is best suited for your friends who are athletes.
