Okome Ken (Rice vouchers) will be provided to low-income, child-rearing, and young single-person households.
The City will provide Okome Ken (Rice vouchers) to low-income, child-rearing, and young single-person households as a support measure against the rising commodity prices.
Eligible households
Households registered in Funabashi City as of September 1, 2022, and that meet one of the following cases:
- Municipal-tax exempt households (Households which were eligible for “Temporary Special Benefit for Municipal-Tax Exempt Households 2021 and 2022”)
- Households which only municipal tax on a per capita basis is levied in FY 2022
- Households with children aged 18 years old and younger※1
- Single-person households which the head of household is 29 years old and younger※2
※1 Households with children who are in the third grade of high school or younger in the 2022 school year are eligible.
※2 Applicants must be 29 years old or younger as of March 31, 2023.
Items provided by the City
10 vouchers of Okome Ken (Rice vouchers) per household(It is equivalent to 10 kg of rice.)
※440 yen per voucher.4,400 yen worth of rice is available for purchase.
How to Receive Okome Ken (Rice vouchers)
- No application is required. A letter will be sent to inform this program first. Subsequently, Okome Ken (Rice vouchers) will be sent to the head of household by the registered mail (Tokutei kiroku yubin) and it will be directly distributed into a mailbox.
- Okome Ken (Rice vouchers) will be sent to the same address as which a pre-announcement letter was sent. If you are planning to move, please complete the necessary procedures at the post office to ensure that your mail will be delivered to your new address.
- A pre-announcement letter will be sent to the eligible household 1, 3 and 4 above in the beginning of November, and it will be sent to the eligible household 2 above in the beginning of December.
- Okome Ken (Rice vouchers) will be sent to the eligible households about a month after a pre-announcement letter arrived.
How to Use & Available Stores
- Okome Ken (Rice vouchers) can be used as a payment method when purchasing rice (the face value of 440 yen per voucher).
- No change is given even if purchase amount is less than the voucher amount. Please be sure to buy rice the face value or over.
- You may be able to buy items other than rice depending on the store.
- No expiration date.
- It can be used at rice retailers, supermarkets, department stores, and drugstores nationwide.
