Edamame with leaves
Edamame are immature soybeans harvested whilst still in the pod. Edamame boiled in salt water have long been eaten in Japan and China, however, in recent years they have also been sold in North American and Europe as a healthy Japanese side dish.
Funabashi, which prides itself on the freshness of its Edamame, often ships them with the leaves attached to the pod, as evidence of their freshness.
